    Thanks all.
Cardew - No, Gas as well - We're actually slightly in credit on that. Want to move to duel fuel too - which will apparently help though I'm not sure why we weren't offered this in the first place!

You have paid £15 a month for 18 months and owe £230 so your total spend is £500 in the 18 months(£330 a year)

That isn't 'high'! The average consumption is 3,300 kWh per year which will cost more than £330 at rates available today. As you don't heat with electricity, the size of your flat isn't a big factor in consumption.
  • Thanks again all - this is forum is great!

I'll look into whether it's worthwhile switching and then decide whether to pay it all off or opt for the 'sensible payment plan'

    Apologies Cardew!

Hmm. I had interpreted Ben78's "this is my first home and to be honest, I didn't realise this was my responsibility" as evidence of a deprived childhood or of growing up in an institution. Not having a father harrumphing around the house turning off lights children have left on, not having a mother muttering about money not growing on trees etcetera. Otherwise how could one not be aware of such a straightforward aspect of keeping house? I'm happy I was mistaken, Ben.
