Hi Guys
I previously tried to uninstall Norton and lost all my IP settings...had to do a system recovery....however like a complete idiot I accepted free norton trial again.
Can anyone give me a really easy step by step way to get rid off norton off my vista laptop and how I go about installing Avast?
I have 3 days left of norton trial and need to get it done but am so scared that im going to mess it up again!
thanks

First, download the Norton removal tool, though don't run it yet.
Then it should just be a matter of going start> control panel > Then either 'Uninstall a program' in the bottom left, or 'Programs and features' depending on which view you are using.
Then simply find everything Norton and Symantec in the list and remove it. Once that is all done, run the norton removal tool, and reboot. That should do it.
Edit: The symantec website seems to have failed, just google for the Norton removal tool. Sites like Softpedia and Download should be safe to get it from.0 -
I removed my Norton cover following the change to the latest version as it slowed it down too much.
I just went into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and did it from there. You will need to remove all the bits including Live Update. It should ask you to restart the computer to finalise the removal. Then just download Avast or whatever choice of AV you make.0 -
