How to get rid of Tracking cookies in AVG

Options
After each scan I am left with a large number of tracking cookies and can't seem able to delete them. The same ones appear each time I scan. Any ideas how to do it, please.

  • Try CCleaner - it's free

  • Doesn't AVG get rid of them for me as it finds them? I also have microsofts Window defender and that catches none. Do you think AVG is showing false positives.

arent they gotten rid of in the internet options accessed via the control panel on your pc?
  • Yes I could do that but I don't think you are supposed to get rid of all cookies as aren't some of them helpful when surfing the web?
  • Tracking cookies are fairly harmless in themselves.

What are your trying to achieve?

AVG is an anti virus product.

i've heard that as well but i always get rid of them when i log off. i'm no expert on this.
  • Sorry I haven't been very clear. After my scan is completed by AVG it shows in the result panel that there is 80+ tracking cookie warnings. I then try to clear them from the panel but they are still showing when I click on warnings. I know they are not viruses. Not making excuses for my dumbness but I am in my late years and have nobody to help with computer problems.
  • We all learn by asking questions, so don't worry on that front.

I tend to use CCleaner for clearing crap off my computer like tracking cookies and use anti virus software for it's purpose. Somethings are better at certain tasks.

Download CCleaner, run it and then scan to see if the cookies are there then.

Id guess that they probably ARE being deleted (If thats what you chose to do with them). But as soon as you go back on those sites then NEW cookies will be created
Dont worry about them, theyre invariably harmless anyway

  • Thank you all very much for your help. I won't worry about them any more.
