£10k to invest for 2 years?

Edit: I now have £6400 due to £3600 going to an ISA.

Hi, I have just inherited 10k which I want to use to go travelling in a couple of years time, I'm having difficulty decided how I should invest the money though as was hoping somebody on here may be able to help!
My situation is as follows.....

- Currently I have a 87k mortgage with 23 years remaining, due exit the redemption period in November. House value is around £100,000 (taking into account recent drops, although probably worth nearer £105,000).
- Savings of around £1000 (had more but just paid out for the kitchen renovation) - Joint salary of of £55,000
- Generally we have around £500-600 spare capital at the end of the month.
- £270 payment into company mortgage scheme
- Other than my Mortgage and Student Loan (10k) the only other debt I have is an unsecured car loan (£300 for next 2 years) which offers no cost savings paying off early.
- When I go travelling I will need to make the decision of either selling or renting the house, I think I will need to sell due to the low equity in the house?

My possibilities are.....
- Take out a new 1/2 year off-set mortgage using the 6.4k as part of the mortgage. I am planning on saving another 10k over the next 2 years for travelling which I can add to the off-set.
- Place in some other tied-in scheme. Ideally with minimal risk (would be willing to risk £1000, however no more).
- Normal regular savings + lump sum

Are they any options I have missed? Any advice on the best option for me?

Thanks for your advice, it is very much appreciated!
