Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section, but I just wanted to share my experience.
I visited FedEx Kinkos on Tottenham Court Road in London. This was first time ever to a Kinkos. I asked if I could scan two pages of documents and email them to someone and the clerk said yes and scanned my forms. On returning he said, "By the way it's £10 for the first sheet and 20p for each additional sheet."
I nearly lost it but I was in a time sensitive situation and didn't really have any choice. To make things even worse, when I went to pay he charged £11.99 saying it was £10.20+VAT!!
I asked him them why he didn't tell me the price before and also why he quoted the price without VAT and he acknowledged that he should have told me these things beforehand. I guess I should have asked what the cost would be before asking him to do it, but it never crossed my mind scanning and emailing 2 sheets of paper would cost £11.99.
For anyone going to Kinkos, my advice would be make sure you confirm the price first before doing anything as it may be way higher than you expect. Don't make the same mistake I did.

hmm.. interesting....
most business places will quote ex vat, sneaky, yeah, remember, staples always used to have ex vat prices on the shelf... though that changed a few years ago..
i work in the printer/copier industry, and scanning is free on devices like that... so what you've been charged is for the "time and expertise" for someone to scan the files in for you, oh and attach them to an email, and click send...
i might open up a store next to them and charge half the price...
