Help! I got a new laptop a few months ago and managed to connect it OK to my wireless home network. The old laptop was full of junk and so I had Windows reinstalled, I plan to give it to Mum so she can play games and look at her Hotmail.
So I get it back this afternoon and optimistically think I will be able to remember how to reinstall the ISP info/router/wireless stuff again, oh dear how wrong I was. I have all the manuals, disks and notes of my passwords, ISP login details etc but just keep going round in circles!
I have an Origo ADSL router connected to a Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router and a Netgear WAG511 Wireless PC Card plugged in the side of the old laptop.
I have loaded up the Origo disk and both the Netgear disks. The Netgear icon in the task bar says it is connected but in the Control Panel, the Wireless Network Connection says "Limited or no connectivity".
I know I have to put in my ISP info somewhere but can't remember where! Please can someone give me a hint as to what to do?

If you are referring to the netgear router page then try typing http://192.168.0.1 into your browser.
If not then I am not to sure I am afraid.

Is the PC connected to the router via an Ethernet cable? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hi espresso, no I don't have an ethernet cable. I'm trying to connect to the wireless router. I know I have to login to the router http address to type in some passwords but I can't get the browser to connect to it.Marsh Samphire0

Well if your encryption is not configured correctly, you won't be able to talk to the router, which is why an Ethernet cable is normally used initially. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I didn't use a cable to connect my new laptop, I must be getting old, I've only had the new one for 6 months and I can't remember what I did.
On the old laptop, the wireless network setup wizard is telling me to save settings to a flash drive and then plug it into the router. I didn't do this when I connected my new laptop, so I'm totally confused.Marsh Samphire0 -
"Limited or no connectivity" - incorrect encryption password. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
