Qatar bags 5% stake in Kaupting

The gulf state has bought a 5% stake in our favourite Icelandic bank as "a long term investment".
It would seem to indicate some confidence in the future

The article also reports that Barclays is now 8% owned by investors based in Qatar.A member of Qatar's royal family has bought a 5% stake in Kaupthing Bank for £155m, making him the third-largest shareholder in Iceland's biggest bank.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al-Thani bought the 5.01% stake (37.1m shares) through his Icelandic company for ISK690 (£4.18) a share.
