Best Life Bond for 6 or 12 months?

I am not an expert, but have some money to invest due to house sale.
Would prefer to do it myself rather than financial adviser.
Have sorted out the fact that a life bond gives 90% refund, if things go wrong,but now to know which one.
Seems Norwich union,and Aig (Scream!!)are market leaders.
Can any one advise me a little.

If you only want to save for 6 or 12 months as per the title then surely the best place without hassle would be fixed term savings account, or more than one to spread the risk perhaps

But if it wasn't a life bond would I miss out on the 90% guarantee that comes with them and just the usual £35,000 per account?

It appears to me, from a quick browse, that life bonds are long-term insurance/investment products, rather than fairly short-term savings products, which is what you seem to be looking for as you mention a 6-12 month period.

I am sure that someone like dunstonh will be along soon to confirm or deny my interpretation.
