Rejected from Halifax..should I try someone else?

I applied for the Halifax 10 months interest free on purchases (one day before the whole merger thing went down) and got a message for my online application that they needed to think about it and would contact me.
Got a letter on Saturday telling me I had been rejected.
I still want a 0% card for purchases, but am wondering if and how long I need to wait before I can/should apply for another card (and which one?).
The other two alternatives for my situation I can see are
a) buy with my current HSBC credit card and try to get a 0% balance transfer card, but that costs me 3%.
But it might be easier to get a 0% on balance transfers than on purchases??
b) get OH to apply for a 0% on purchases card, although can't see why he would be accepted over me as we are both in a similar financial situation.
Thoughts and comments appreciated.
Thanks

A number of things could have caused you to be rejected.
Not being on the electoral role. Having a high amount of available credit with other cards etc etc. The list goes on.
It may be worth checking your credit report to make sure it's all correct.
If you only applied for the Halifax card recenty and it was a while ago before then when you last applied for any credit then applying for another card probably wouldn't have too much of an effect on your credit rating.
If you're rejeted for a second time then it probably would be advisable to wait a few months before trying again.
What is it you need 0% on purchases for? Isn't it something that you can simply just save up for?0
