It's freezing in my flat with these crappy old storage heaters
)-:
I'm gonna have to go and buy an oil filled radiator, to plug in.
Has anyone bought one recently, what with all these stories regarding the freezing cold Winter, I'm gonna have to invest in one.
I saw a 'DELONGHI TRD0820T Oil Filled Radiator' on Currys website at £79.99
Has anyone bought one recently and paid any good prices?

I did purchase a Halogen heater recently, three heat settings - 400w, 800w and 1200w, gives off a fair old heat. I picked mine up for £12 locally and it works well, also has an oscillating action that circulates the warm air. I have a two bedroomed flat with storage heaters and it fairly warms up the place even on a low setting. You should be able to pick one up for between £12-£15.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

How much do those halogen heaters cost to run? I'm in on my own most of the day and in 1 room at a time so I don't really want to put the heating on all over the house for 1 room.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Fan heaters are more efficient that Oil Filled Rads, instant heat too, and cheaper to buy.
But the Halogen heaters sound quite good too.
I would avoid the oil filled route, they cost a fortune to run if you need a fair amount of heat.0 -
There are these ones at £12.99 but with delivery and signature etc, work at £18.99. May be worth having a look to see if you could get one locally. I managed to get mine very cheap and it works great. If you were to run the halogen heater at the 400w rate for an hour probably would work out about the same as running a storage heater I'd would imagine, maybe I'm wrong. Depends on your tariff/utility provider etc, different rates for sockets compared with heating etc.
The one I have is a CONNECT-IT make, just incase you can source it online maybe, not a remote control one but it works fine, three heat settings and oscillates etc.

Don`t go for oil fired radiators. They are expencive to run & do not give out much heat & definately no direct heat.
I think these halogen heaters are the best you will get at the moment.0 -
Only downside is if you have a powercut, then I just don't know... Superser type gas heater, but then you have condensation problems etc and have to worry about ventilation etc etc etc, plus the initial outlay. Should you get hold of one of the halogen heaters, check to see if you can get hold of replaceable bulbs too or whatever you need to keep them going.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. we have storage heaters too. after 18 months, still don't know how to use them efficiently. carga input? descarga output? both set at same level (2.5) 4 heaters, 2 in living room, one in kitchen, one on landing. only living room comfortable, bedrooms, bathrooms, hallway and utility room totally unbearable without arctic clothing. these things run on 'heatplus' so get their electric at some time during the night, we have no idea exactly when or for how long and for a short period during the day, again no clue when or how, we've been trying to catch the meter start it's whirling dervish impersonation but never succeeded. council people no idea how we find these things out as they never keep instructions for use of future tenants and we can't use gas bottled heating under terms of tenancy. anyone got any ideas? What's the best way to heat a timber framed Caspon house with what we've got without it breaking our 'careful' and always empty yorkshire purse? I wish at the moment that i was wearing real gloves and not the fingerless variety but then i'd make more typos and does anyone know where you can buy full face balaclavas as my nose is definately turning blue!
