cheque question

hi, my partner and i have recieved a cheque with both our names on, i tried to put it in his bank today but they said it needed to go into a joint account, is there anyway around this as i dont want a joint account with him?

You will have to contact whoever the cheque is from and ask them if they will issue one in your partners name only.
