Builder Liquidation

Complicated question from a desparate homeowner. I am having a house extension built and my builder has gone into liquidation. The work is incomplete, including installation of some timber cladding outside, some of which is on the house and some was at the builder's yard. I have paid the liquidator £800 for the rest of the timber which was at the yard, which has now been delivered. It has since come to light that not only was the amount of timber delivered insufficient to complete the job, it is all the wrong timber (only meant to be used internally and hence a much cheaper material than specified). The liquidator is arguing a) that it was not miss-sold to me because I knew what I was purchasing, b) I took delivery and c) this all happened before the official liquidation of the company. They will only consider the £800 as a further debt against the company, ie money that I have no chance of seeing.
Would appreciate some tips on how to proceed.

Have you talked to the supplying yard? will they take it back? They are likley to charge a restocking fee 20% is normal.0

Unfortunately the timber yard wasn't paid for the timber befor the builder went bust, so no chance of them taking it off my hands. Thanks anyway.0
