But be a bit careful with the foodstuffs you buy from Home Bargains since if you look closely, you’ll notice that in most cases where there is a cracking deal on food, it is close to the expiry date……

Yes, best to check but they can have good dates. I always get Mornflake Oats from there (28p which is about third of usual cost) and at moment stock is dated December 2006.
I do take notice of 'Use by' dates, particularly meat and dairy, but take 'Best Before' dates as guidelines.
When a friend of mine visits from States she thinks we are weird for taking notice of the dates and throwing food away (not that I do, well rarely anyway)

Bart Simpson boxed bath sets £1.99, Bart stationary pack 39p, lovely expensive looking nougat and various Swiss Frey choc bars (so nice) going cheap, cheap, cheap.
The biggest blow for me was seeking the Crazy Frog Annoying Thing game which I recently spent £12.99 on from Play.com, and is in Toys R Us for £14.99 - its a great prezzie for the kids as it is a good game all for £4.99, just had to buy another one for a friend ....0 -
Simpsons stationary set including metal pencil case, small ruler, pencils, sharpener, scissors and some kind of clip thingie. I cant remember if there was anything else in it because I wrapped it up last night. It had an rrp of 3.99 on the label - HB price was 99p. It comes in a plastic case with a carry handle. This was in Northfield (Birmingham)0

Assorted Gundam model kits £2.99
These are not like airfix kits ect. They are not a near hollow box with a tiny set of pieces.
They don't need any glue or paints.
They are made by BANDAI (Well respected company).
And the model kits are huge. They are well detailed as 11 frames of pieces make a Gundam Replica (1:100 size if anyone is wondering) about 6" high.
Some of these have a skill level 5 (Very hard) so I wouldn't recommend to under 12's0 -
This morning picked up:
Disney Animal Noises playing cards (https://www.cartamundi.com) 0.49p
Inflatable travel pillow 0.89p
Bisto Turkey Granules 0.49p
Walkers brandy liquers 0.89p
Micro task lamp 0.89p
The 'Micro Task Lamp' is a tiny torch with a velcro band attached which you place around your finger like a ring. Great if you have a two handed job to do under the sink and haven't got a lamp!0 -
