Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can offer me any advice? I bought a Toshiba Television from John Lewis and for some reason the remote control has stopped working properly: Only the volume control works.
I have a Toshiba DVD player and decided to check if this remote worked and the same problem has surfaced. I can only change channels manually.
I have contacted John Lewis and I'm waiting for a reply on this matter.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? Can anyone suggest how I can solve it?

If you mean that only the volume control buttons work on the remote and the others don't, it's almost certainly a fault within the remote control itself - assuming that you've checked that it's not just dying batteries, of course.
One other slight possibility: try removing the batteries, leaving them out for a few minutes and then replacing them.0 -

Thanks for replying but.. both remotes have this problem. I've tried 2 different remotes and only the volume control is working. I've changed the batteries on the TV remote and that has made no difference.0 -
Have either of the remotes got a dual function switch/button, say TV/VCR or TV/DVD.
Its possible that its in the wrong mode.
BTW Tried this the other day.
To check the remote is sending have a look at the business end via the LCD view finder of a digital camera. You will see a blue/violet light is the remote is working when you press any of its buttons.
PS Whats the model number of the remote? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Hi the TV remote doesn't work with the DVD player. I also have a DVD remote that I programmed a few weeks ago to work with the TV. I had to use a code for that.
My TV remote was working fine for weeks. It came with my TV: Toshiba 20W330DB LCD HD Ready Digital Television.
I can't think what's wrong. I'll try the camera trick. I'm not sure how to recode a TV remote if it doesn't respond to anything but Volume change0
