I don't know what's funnier...
a) that the UK Industry Trust have actually put their hands into their pockets to fund this crappy attempt at guilt-tripping downloaders into losing a nights sleep at the fact that they are a "knock-off nigel" that steals money and food at work (a pretty wild stereotype)... rather than putting the money to better use in order to fight piracy.
or
b) the fact that almost everyone I've ever met in the industry themselves download and/or leak material. Only idiots and/or the technologically disabled buy dvds from little chinese men in pub toilets.0 -
You know, I bought a new DVD tonight online. A new DVD on the day of release is £15ish. A pirate DVD is about £5ish. Tescos online in Jersey is £8 delivered. I don't mind paying £3 for it to be a legal copy.
I've seen some good downloads but to be frank I'd rather watch a DVD.If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0 -
My mate bought some iffy DVD's once and none of them actually worked.
I do download some stuff but usually stuff off TV I have missed like bike racing or F1. I also download some American shows that aren't on here otherwise I wouldn't get to see them.Nothing to see here, move along.0 -
There should be an option H: I dont buy films anyways.
On that basis I had to pick A.Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE:A Single, 27, Aspie, Gooner :A0 -
I vote D. Therfore you can call me nigel!
why the hell should i pay £20 + for a DVD when i can get it of a !!!!! for a quid? There can sometimes be problems with quality etc but thats the chance you take. DVD`s are a absolute rip off in my opinion. cinemas charge about £7 a person to see a film these days, which is stupid as well. I regularly swop films between my friends and family because no one wants to fund the corporate profits or any high street retailer for that matter who all take a slice out of my pocket. no way. see a bargain - take it. they dont come along often enough!
Downloads are much easier by the way. you can check the quality first too. plus, if youre scared, you can buy them for some idiot who will take all the downloading and pirating risks for the same price as the !!!!!!! just make sure you delete them once youve watched them or you will be in trouble if caught.
sorry to rant but its as honest a post as you will find on here!0 -
I'm "A" but than I tend to buy DVDS off chart and therefore on special offers. What is the point in throwing money away and getting a pirate that may not even work? Pointless. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

I agree with Tarry here on the quality issue. if you buy of some dodgy source then you take your chances. however, i still think that unless the DVD`s in shops are severely discounted I.e. under £5 then they arent even worth looking at.0 -

I download films regularly, watch them then delete them, they never get burnt onto disc as I always watch them on my laptop.
Legal or otherwise I watch a lot of films that I wouldnt normally pay for anyway so they wouldnt get any money out of me if I couldnt download them. Films I watch and really like I do buy the DVD for. I also regularly go to the cinema to see the big films I want to see so they do see some money from me.
I am pretty much the same. I buy the odd DVD, go to the cinema about once a month and watch films on Sky Movies. I have downloaded films and this has had no impact on my patterns for DVD buying or cinema going. If it (knock off films on DVD or download) disappeared entirely I wouldn't miss it, would probably just mean I watch sky movies more which I am paying for already anyway.A+L Loan £168 Hitachi Loan £0 Bank of dad £19,664

A, but it's more because I think it's immoral to take someone's work without paying for it. If the filmmaker has no issue with it being sent around for free (Michael Moore is one such person) then that's fine, but otherwise it's being sold and should be bought.0
