Hey,
just starting renting a house and the previous tenants left their sky box behind. We dont have a contract with Sky, but the box seems to pick up some channels (maybe not all the ones available on freeview, as we cant get Five). Am allowed to be using the box like this (for free)? or should i expect a bill in the next month?

Nice freebie, you should'nt get billed for freeview.:D0

you can use it to get the freeview channels, ( not all tho), you wont get charged for this servive
also you can get a card from sky called a yellow house card.. look for it on the sky site.. this will allow you to get 5 and some of the other freeview channels that are encrypted on the sky service, the card costs £20, i would buy from sky as that way you know you are getting a new card. some people sell the old cards on ebay but are asking more than what sky charge.......0 -
Wow im well chuffed with that
Will deff look around fo that yellow house card then.

from the sky site..
Q: I already have Sky digital satellite equipment - what else do I need?
A: All you need to gain access to the free channels available on the digital satellite platform is a Freesat from Sky viewing card, which costs just £20. If you’d like to access the interactive services available, you’ll also need a working phone line. To purchase a viewing card please phone Sky on 08448 244 400.0 -
Just found a yellow house card, in the sky box
so another freebie, however it doesnt get some channels, which id expect with freeview, like Five.

you should get five and other freeview channels with the yellow house card..
i would try taking the card out.. power down sky box( unplug from mains) leave couple of mins.. turn sky box back on..
one up and running, put card in, turn sky off then on.. and leave on.. could take a couple of days for the card to activate...0 -
you wont get a bill anyway cos you haven't signed up for it the previous tenent did...and sky take direct debits anyway..so I wouldn't worry about it...and C5 is free so you should getthat unless you can't in your area...just enjoy...:D
