There really was no other place I could see to put this, but feel free to move it if need be.

I'll try and keep this very simple, and step by step.

I bought my renault megane just over a month ago privately
I put it into Renault a couple of weeks into owning it to have the coil packs done on it. They knew they were faulty, so no hassle, FOC.
I then took it in a week later because one of my fans broke. Easy fix, FOC.

I now have 2 more problems.
First of all, the major one, is my door has dropped down very slightly, so now it doesnt line up with the bodywork, and also the door will not lock into place fully (it is secure from what I can tell, but the interior light keeps coming on, because it thinks the door is open). The door is also pulled out a bit, which would indicate an attempted break in, but the car has no marks on it. Should this be a warranty issue, as the car is just coming up 3 years old, so it's not really old, and the door is knackered?
The second problem is my steering wheel is clicking a few times, like it's knocking something on the way round. Maybe around 5 clicks, and it only happens when the wheel is at a certain place of turning.

My warranty runs out on the 9th of December, so I know they will try to get out of doing the work, but both of these problems seem to me like warranty issues. Would I be right in thinking this? They have been decent with me so far, but I suppose only time will tell, when I take it into them on Saturday (hopefully!)

I have no idea if these are warranty issues but if you are concerned about approaching the end of your warranty then put it in writing clearly dated before the end of warranty. Then you can say that they had been informed within the warranty period if necessary.

You answered your own question, looks like an attempted break in. There's no harm in asking for waranty work, but unless you can prove otherwise you will have to go along with what they say. Insurance will sort it out if it's a problem.
  • Think it depends on the garage. Husband has an Audi TT that has just had a complete new roof as one of the heater bars was not working in the rear screen - this was done under warranty no probs, but I have a Ford Galaxy that the driver side door handle needed attention to as suddenly started sticking - this we had to pay for as were told it was not included in the warranty. Every single time we have taken the Audi in everything has been covered by the warranty even interior stuff and car always comes back with a full valet. When we change the Galaxy I will not be buying Ford again, will be changing to Audi as nothing is ever too much trouble.

  • My mum had that clicking noise with her admittally older than 3 year old ford and I've got a feeling that it was something to do with a clip on the steering column and that it was an inexpensive job as well.....but I might have it completely wrong..I am a girlie after all!
