Last month Microsoft announced that the XBOX 360 Premium Model would be reduced by £30 and would now come with a 60gb hard drive upgraded from 20gb.
I bought my new machine yesterday as below:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5666793/c_1/1%7Ccat_10199869%7CXbox+360%7C10199903/Trail/searchtext%3EXBOX+360.htm
Notice that it specifically says the Xbox has a 60gb hard drive.
Got home and set it up a few hours ago. Discovered that the internal hard drive is only 20gb. Looks like I've been sold an older model!!!
Catalogue number for the above corresponds to the one on my receipt - 566/6793
So what should I do as Argos say in their catalogue that this item is not covered by their 30-day return policy.
I don't want my money back but I want an upgraded machine, as I am entitled to under the description in their catalogue.
I can only assume this wasn't deliberate and that they still had some of the older models kicking around in their store room.
Any advice please folks?

just take it back.....that simpleIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
It just sounds like a mistake. As Cat suggests, take it back and explain what happened.0

Thanks fellas.
I've checked the manufacturing date on the console and it's July 2007. Surely they can't justify selling old stock at the same price as the new upgraded and cheaper model.
Will phone them later today and report back in.
This wouldn't normally worry me but Argos have a terrible record for Customer Service. They are quite happy to take your money but not so interested when there's a problem.... :rolleyes:0 -
I wouldn't even do that i would box it up and take it to the store.......less hassle that way.....can make a scene easier heheIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

Like others have said, it is undoubtedly a mistake. Most people will believe an Xbox is an Xbox, won't even realise there are different specifications for different models.
I would take it back, as them to check to see if they have any correct ones, and then exchange it.Amo L'Italia0 -
Is the product code on the box the same?
Just take it back. Someone at Argos has made a mistake.
The 30 day thinng doesn't apply - that's only relevant when you've changed your mind.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
like everyone else says take it back to the shop. there has got to be some sort of trade description rule to do with this issue. the console they have sold you is quite old as well. i bought one from hmv in december 2007 and the manufacture date for that was november 2007. so i bought mine a year ago and it is newer than the one that you were sold recently.
i would be tempted to say push for a refund and get yourself to your nearest hmv because they usually have good deals regarding the games they give you with the console. they often even let you choose if you dont like the games the sign says you get with it.0
