Sound Volume?

Options
I have an LCD TFT Monitor with built in speakers and I use XP. Even with the volume turned up to full on both monitor and computer, I do not have a good volume of sound. Is the only answer to buy extra speakers and how do I know which to buy?
Thanks.

  • maybe a silly question but...

Have you got the 3.5mm jack plugged in the correct output from the sound board? Green for mine.

I know if I plug it into the secondary output channel (cant remember colour) it does degrade the sound.

Have you configured your sound card correctly with the latest drivers and software?
"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

  • Sorry but what is a 3.mm jack? I have a new computer but the TFT is about 4 years old and I have always had low volume. The instructions for TFT say check the Audio connection but how. Unfortunately the man who built the system is a local person who has been back for several problems but he does not seem to know how to check the sound.
He insists that I must need speakers. He is very nice but a bit lacking in knowledge which makes for a very difficult situation. I paid £400 and am reluctant to spend more on another call out expert.
  • I have a wire plugged into the little green socket at the back of the computer.
  • Try going to start > settings > control panel > sounds and audio devices > Volume > advanced button, and make sure both the "master volume" and the "wave volume" are turned up as high as they'll go.

  • Thank you, not perfect but has improved.
