They'll probably just ask lots of competency based questions. I had an interview for Three (as in my mobile company a while back and they did this).

    It's a lot of...
-Can you tell me a time you've gave excellent customer service?
-Can you tell me a time you've worked as part of a team, and what was the role you played?

Stuff like that really, just try to be as specific as possible and make yourself sound clear. Be sure to be welcoming and try not to be shy as you'd be working in a sales role. Playing up strengths on selling things is a big thing as you'll be working to targets, and a good customer focused attitude is important.
  • i have only just left college so dont really have any experience in this area and have only got my saterday job as experience (somerfield!) so when they ask me questions like giving examples what if i dont have a very good answer becasue of that??

    and thanku lufcgirl for advice..
  • lufcgirl is right about competency based questions. The "describe a time when ... " can be really hard to deal with if you don't have an example ready. Think about good examples that you can give from past experience. When answering use this formula ... STAR (Situation/Task, Action, Result). Basically describe the situation or task, describe the action you took and finally what was the result or outcome. If you can think of answers in this way not only does it give the interviewer lots of information on what you did but it can take several minutes to go through the answer. It also shows that you have thought about your examples and it will give you confidence during the interview.

Good examples are ... describe a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer/person, have you missed a target/deadline, tell me about a time when you've had to motivate somebody/a team, how have you promoted team work in your current/previous role.

Remember body language is also important so look at the interviewer directly in the eye, sit/stand straight, don't fidget (clasp your hands together if you are prone to this) and don't forget to smile.

    Good luck!!!!

For customer service, just give an example of when you've dealt with a complaint at Somerfield or a difficult customer. Something like when you've gone out of your way, like helping a customer to their car with their shopping, packing the bags for elderly people.
If they ask for targets, I'd say I don't have any experience within a working environment however you have done at school/college working towards a specific grade in your exam. Be honest with them, and don't lie about anything cos it'll come back.

If you did get the job, they'd send you away for all the sales training anyway, so that shouldn't be a problem. Just make yourself sound as friendly and approachable as possible. As if they see potential, they'll employ you. Don't worry about silences, they're always writing stuff and usually apologise themselves for it.
  • Just seen your last post. Don't forget examples don't all have to be work based. If you have been part of a sports team or led a project at college, they are also valid examples too.

  • ok thanku for your advice... :)
  • One other thought ... have you researched any of the phones that they stock in the shop and the various tarrifs that O2 have?

  • um.. no.. i looked on another website nd they said they dont ask you about phone tarrifs because you do alot of that on the training....

but i am going to look into it breifly...

    thanks
