vista loading problem

Chaps,

Having a prob with a laptop and getting an error message when starting up the lappy,

I get

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000C1F5 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Therefore Vista isnt loading up and its starting to do my head in.

any help would be appreciated.

    If you'd done any investigating, you'd realise that it isn't..

    Great cheers for your help so it looks like the solution is to format the hard disk and start all over again which is'nt an option at the mo, I was up till the wee small hours trying to find a workaround and the same info kept coming up, ie windows know about it and have known about it for a while and have done nothing about it, so yay windows vista.

    Someone mentioned a linux workaround using a Systemrescue cd, however what I know about linux I could write on a very small piece of paper with a large pen.

    With a laptop, it has been found that by re-seating the RAM this may resolve the problem. If not, re-seat the hard drive. If that doesn't work, it may well be a format, but copy any data you need 1st!

    How am I supposed to copy any data if I cant get vista to load?

    Sorry - assuming you have access to a desktop PC, you can connect the two together and access the laptop hard drive from the desktop, or take the hard drive from the laptop and connect to desktop and access the data that way (it would show up as another drive).
    My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.
