Jump in number of properties for sale

I keep a close eye on the WC1 area. 18 months ago, there were about 150 places for sale. That's edged up over time, and for the last 6 months or so, there have been between 220 and 230 for sale most of the time.

I last checked Rightmove / Property Bee on Wednesday. Then, there were 23 pages, as per usual (just under 230).

Today, there has been a surge of new listings. There are now 252 places for sale.

A lot of sellers heading for the exits, they hope.

I think I found many of the new WC1 ones first the other day. :p

Was checking to see if Lehman had spurred things alone, or shaken up others in to reality who are not even at Lehman.

I monitor WC1 now as a big indicator of the fallout coming elsewhere.

I have noticed this in my area too. I have a look every couple of days and am always finding new properties (and also looking to see reductions through property bee) :)
    Saving for a deposit: £20,551 / £25,000 - 82% of the way there...

Ok I've just checked again, and yes..

..even more properties come on at WC1, with many new properties and reductions in price found by NDG.

Interesting times. Hopefully it will teach people that being a desirable area doesn't mean people are prepared to pay any price.
  • Does it show up as NDG? Can't remember what username I chose (-:

  • Checking rentals in WC1 now - also a big jump in numbers, lots of new places, and rent reductions all round.

The City shennanigans having a big effect here, I reckon.
