Skyplus - Cancelling sky?

I've been told that if I cancel my SKY totally I will still have to pay £10 per month to have the SKYplus facility so you can pause / rewind live TV.

Can anyone tell me why this is? Thought it would just be the box??

If you cancel your sky contract & the box goes to "Freeview" where you can see all the free to air channels....BUT if you still want to use the recording functions of your sky+ you still need to pay £10 a month for the priveledge as they've said..

hmmmm, I wonder if its possible to 'unlock' the feature.........

No it isn't possible to unlock the feature. If you want the PVR functionality, get a PlayTV if you've got a Playstation 3 or a Freeview PVR.
