IBM IBM IBM Acer have a tendancy to suck, What about a Dell with
a discount code off this site.0 -
Do Acer laptops really suck? WHy
Dell laptop? which one, do u have a code i cant find one0 -
Acers are really badly constructed and their tech support is non-existent.
As for dell codes do a forum search as there will be loads I expect....0 -
Personally I'd probably get the Acer with the maginally faster processor. That's because I have an Acer which I'm very happy with. I'd suggest trawling a few laptop forums to gauge how many problems are being reported with Acers compared to other manufacturers. My impression, a year ago, was there were few manufacturers who didn't get complaints and Acer were no different to many others and certainly not as bad as some. These laptops should be fairly quiet and as this was absolutely key for me as working in relative quiet is very important to me and I hate whirring fans. My Acer is very good in that respect and that would be my deciding factor between very similarly specced laptops.0

I'd also suggest the IBM. They tend to have very high quality screens & keyboards, which make working with the laptop a lot easier. Plus the Thinkpad build quality traditionally is quite high.0

I'd go for the IBM every time - better quality (I've had several) and better resale price when it's time to change (BMW v Hyundai). To infinity and beyond!0

IBM, has better battery life and built in wireless."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

A friend, who works in IT, just bought the IBM that you're on about and has been v impressed with it. Spent £24 to upgrade the memory via Crucial. In his opinion the build quality is excellent, which is a major plus in my book.0
