Change of pension 75 - 05

Options
Does anyone know if I will be made to change pension schemes. At the moment I am on 75 and have been accepted for my commission, so I will be changing my contract once I hopefully grad IOT. Will I be made to go on to 05 pension. I don't want to change my pension as I only intend on doing my 22 still not the extra 18yrs Ill be given when commissioned. As I have read in AP3393 that if an Officer is on 75 scheme you have to option to leave at 22 yrs service. Anyhelp will be great as my HR are not the most helpful.

I believe if you have already returned the form that gave you the option of changing then thats it you can't change again....so you are staying on the 75 scheme which IMHO is the better one

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right
  • Thanks I thought that might be the case. I agree I thinl the old pension is better, if the new one was, they wouldn't have offered it ? would they??

Exactly.....just like JPA.....its all about the MOD/Govement not having to give as much money out......nothing ever benefits us really

  • To be honest the new pension scheme is pretty good. If your total length of service is going to be longer than 25 years than the new scheme is better than the old. In answer to your question if you havent opted to change over you will be still on the old one. Personally as i have now been given an extension of service i would like to change over to the new system but I am not permitted. I think this i wrong as when i was asked to make my choice of which pension scheme I could only do a max of 22 years. Now under the new rules I can do up to 37.
  • This information should be explained to you in more detail before you go to RMAS. To get the correct answer, send a service request to JPAC pension department. This can only be done by email, but the answer will be correct for you.

I am pretty certain that anyone who commissioned after apr 05 is on AFPS 05 regardless of service before, you are effectively rejoining.

It is like those that have left and are trying to re-join, they cant go back on AFPS 75!
