Access to learning fund

I start uni tommorow. I've applied for all the funding but I'm a single parent with financial difficulties. The LA is taking ages to assess my funding and I've been told by nhs bursaries they can't complete the bursary till I get my LA financial notification. Also my housing benefit will take about 4 weeks to be assessed and the childcare grant.

The nursery won't wait and want £25 registration fee, 2 weeks deposit plus the weekly fees.

What kind of things can the university allocate funds from access to learning fund for?

My main concerns are the childcare, Rent, Travel and I don't have a computer and can't afford one.

all of the above except the computer because you'll have access to the unis computers. We have a fast track service at this time of year for people whos grants haven't come through, you can fill in the form along with the evidence and get it read and assessed either that day or the next day. Problem is they give you a cheque and not cash but you might be able to negotiate on that. Also get the uni to phone the LHA - they have a direct line usually and can sort out problems quicker than us mere mortals.
