Going to spend £3000 at John Lewis - any advice please?

DH and I have been saving for ages for some new furniture for our front room. We've seen the ideal set at John Lewis, for the pieces we want we are looking at a spend of around £3k
We went in yesterday to look at the furniture and DH asked the sales lady about any possible discounts for buying multiple pieces, we were told very politely to get lost.
I see they are no longer on Quidco and don't seem to be issuing vouchers. Shame as we bought some bookcases from them a while back and used both of those to save a good chunk (thanks MSE :T :T ).
Any other avenues worth trying to save a bit of money on this? Does anyone know when the JL sale is, and how it works - how they choose what goes into it and how quickly things sell out?
Thanks for any advice

Do you know anyone who is a member of lifestylerewards? Most council workers can become members. I work for Suffolk CC and membership is free allowing us to buy discounted vouchers. I can get 8.5% off John Lewis vouchers. Might be worth asking friends/family who work for councils whether they can order you some vouchers if they are a member????
Plus....I've ordered vouchers before and used my M&S credit card to get extra points back on that too!!!!0 -
Or if you know anyone in the PCS union, their discount is only 6% though

Thanks both, I will ask around. Hmm, I'm sure my ex-employer offered lifestylerewards, if only I was still working for them. That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0

Have you tried Pigsback? (https://www.pigsback.com) They offer 2 points for every pound spent which you can then redeem for a variety of vouchers -

Ask to see the Department manager, you may have more success.0 -
I am far from a money saving expert, but would it be worth getting a John Lewis credit card to pay for this item? then at least you would get some JL vouchers back?
On the condition you cut it up afterwards of course!0 -
I was going to suggest getting an MBNA credit card, as any MBNA card holder can buy shopping vouchers for various retailers at discounts of up to 10%. Last time I looked, this included John Lewis - but checking today, they are no longer listed. Sorry!0

If you have children looking for a job after school/college, get a job within John Lewis group, get 12% discount or wait 3 months and get 25% off furniture...0
