Northern Rock e-saver

I am checking Northern Rock e-saver as I understand it is safe to save with them now. I understand you have to do it online. I just wonder whether I have to open a current account as I do want to have a cheque book. I only intend todeposit a large sum of money and leave it in the account until I need it. I also intend to do the transfer of money when needed directly to other bank account. I read you can have a nominated account. Pl does anybody know whether this is possible? Thanks

I have been looking all week at different options and have called up various places with any questions. I suggest you do this because they answer quickly and any questions you have they are happy to answer and actually it is all relatively easy. Believe me, I am a complete novice at this.0

OH and I recently opened this account and you nominate an account that any withdrawals are paid to (or they can be paid to another NR account).
Our nominated account is our Halifax current account.0 -
I was going to put a large sum into this account, having decided to spread my money among three, but today there is another thread about Northern Rock's rate dropping so not sure what to do...again!0

Thanks Tomsmom, I have not got a NR account. I do not want to open another current account just for online banking. I guess I can deposit money online from my Nationwide nominated account & the same with withdrawals. Does that make sense?0 -

Yes, makes sense. I imagine any account that accepts BACS transfer will be suitable as your nominated account.0 -
Hi
I opened a NR saver a/c. It took about 10 minutes to do and today I trs in some money from my Nat West current a/c and it arrived there immediately. Very easy to set up and very easy to use.
Result as far as I'm concerned...
Now should I trs my Cash ISA to them..?
