Sick Guinea Pig

I have 3 guinea pigs and tonight one is very poorly.

She seemed fine at 3pm, i put her in her run in the garden with her play mate.
It was hot, however she had some shade and she has been out in the summer on hot days and been fine.

When i went to get her in, i noticed she was lying very flat and not her usual self.

I bought her indoors and put her on the floor and she was limping almost but still walking. In the space of a few hours I have managed to get her to take some water and a tiny bit of cucumber. She has been on my knee in a towel led very still, and flat.

When i went to put her on the floor to test her walking, she had deteriorated alot, she was dragging her back end almost and seemed almost drunk.

I am keeping her indoors to keep and eye on her, she has access to hay and water and some cucumber and im hoping she will make it through the night so I can take her to vets tomorrow. The grass where I put her hasnt been treated with anything, she has been on the same patch of grass before aswell. I couldnt see anything in there she could of eaten either. The other Guinea that was with her is fine too.

Does anyone have any tips or advice or idea what could be wrong with her at all????

why have you not taken her to the vets??????????????????????call one out, yes its expensive, but when you have animals you have to do these things.
what if she is ill and needs fluids etc.
heatstroke is dangerous. i dont know what it could be, am not a vet, but have had animals all my life, and qualifications in lifestock managment,
get pig to vet. i hope she will be fine.....

I phoned the vets already and they said all they would do would be to monitor her for an hour or so and leave her overnight in a cage. They just said that they couldnt tell me what it was without doing bloods etc and that those results wouldnt be back for a day or so.
At least if she is here I can check on her all night. I am hand feeding her water.
They told me to bring her in the morning if she is the same. I dont think they are expecting her to live. I dont want her being alone in a strange cage and left feeling ill, i couldnt bear to let her die there.

Money doesnt come into it, if she needed a £1000 operation tonight I would pay it, no problem at all, I adore my pigs.

Suggesting you don't adore your pigs is not fair. You are doing the best thing and I agree.

I hope pig will be fine.

did someone say she didnt adore her guinea pigs? i am glad you have been in touch with vets, hearing what they have said youcan only do what they have told you, at least you are with her and are able to keep an eye on her, im sorry nothing can be done quicker.
i certainly would not ay you didnt adore your pigs, if you didnt you wouldnt have asked for advise.

How old is your pig? Does she seem to have sensation in her back legs? Could she have been dropped or squashed by anything?

My other thread was closed.
Just to be clear, I was not offended at any posts in it.

I am really pleased to report that my Guinea Pig is looking a lot better this morning.
I have been up in the night a few times to her and she was happy and warm and sleeping.
She has eaten the cucumber I had left her which is great because she wasnt eating last night at all.

I put her on the floor to watch her walking and instead of dragging her hind, she was up on all fours and walking normally.

I have no clue the reasons for her illness, although I suspect heat stroke/dehydration. She was in the garden in her run from 3-5pm and it was hot yesterday here.

I am keeping her in with me today and letting her rest up, going to phone the vets in a while and let them know the latest and see if they want to see her still.
