you are using firefox, asking how to use a addon that you previously used with firefox, amnesia, perhaps?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Amnesia? Probably.
I am trying to log-in to websites automatically as I did with Firefox but there does not seem to be the same facility with Keepass - or at least I can't find it.0 -
Isn't it because Firefox is a browser and Keepass is a program for storing your passwords.
Why don't you still use the Autofill feature in Firefox and keep the Keepass info for back up?0 -
Keepass keeps passwords and accounts encrypted by one master password as a reminder system, it will not autofill in Firefox or any other browser.0

Yes it will, that's one of the main features. See here:
http://keepass.info/help/base/autotype.html
by default autofill is initiated by Ctrl-Alt-A.Stompa0 -

Have I done this correctly?
I have downloaded the program ( 1.15) onto a pen drive and saved a file with my MSE login details for starters.
As yet I cannot see how to log in other than copy and paste from the info stored in Keypass.
Could you or someone else explain how?
Also what about sites that require certain characters ( from dropdown menu) rather than full passwords.
I'm beginning to wonder if Keepass is not as sophisticated as I was expecting it to be.0 -

Take a read through this:

Normally characters picked from a menu can also be typed on the keyboard. Keepass is not sophisticated enough to cope with things like 'enter the 3rd, 7th & 9th character from your password', I'm not aware of any similar product that is (other than things like Egg Money Manager etc...).Stompa0 -
Thank you Stompa. I did read that link yesterday and struggled to understand. I'll have another go.
Funnily enough I was tempted by EMM but wondered if Keepass was more secure and decided to go for that instead.
I suppose it's more secure than holding info in a spreadsheet but will still require key pressing from me.0 -

The difficulty is that Keepass doesn't actually read what's on the screen, it just blindly fills in the fields. So it can't (for example) determine which of several possible security questions you're being asked.
I've had mixed results with EMM, some accounts seem to work but others do not (even though they're listed by Egg as being compatible).Stompa0 -
Until Stompa mentioned it, I didn't even think KeePass it had the functionality, I'm sure it didn't in older versions (been using it for a long time), but I'd not have investigated - so missed it. Personally I consider it a potential security issue, and it's much better to open it, read your p/w and manually enter, any auto-fill has the potential for a security issue. (I think EMM is potentially dangerous holding details of other logins, but you have to weigh up usefulness with security, but it's not something I'd use.)0
