Minimum monthly payments.

I get paid cash per hour that I work, so pay in small amounts most days. When current accounts have a minimum monthly amount does it matter if its paid in bits, or is it supposed to be a monthly wage, once a month?

My understanding is that it is the total amount paid in per month.
  • You've mentioned in another thread that you bank with first direct, are you asking with reference to your fd account?

If so, it doesn't matter (as far as fd is concerned) whether it's one big payment or several smaller ones.

If you are asking about your fd account, strictly speaking, there is no minimum monthly amount.

I believe that KTF is correct - the banks aren't trying to rule out people who (for example) get paid weekly.
  • Thanks, I ask FD and they said its not a problem, you get a bit more interest and a bigger overdarft if you pay in more than £1000 a month, but Im thinking of opening another account, maybe smile but couldn't see anything on their website.
