Oh heck.. a window has just popped up that says windows/XP Antivirus scanner... A threat has been detected - and it lists the files. Then another box has popped up asking me to download AV2008install.exe from your-windows-scanner.com. I'm not sure if this is a real windows application or dodgy site wanting to download something nasty??? What can i do??

What I do is have an antivirus prog and once a month run Housecall on https://www.antivirus.com Sometimes finds things - like tracking viruses - that shouldn't be there. No virus can go past both.0
