Urgent is 'your-windows-scanner.com' safe

Oh heck.. a window has just popped up that says windows/XP Antivirus scanner... A threat has been detected - and it lists the files. Then another box has popped up asking me to download AV2008install.exe from your-windows-scanner.com. I'm not sure if this is a real windows application or dodgy site wanting to download something nasty??? What can i do??

no its not its malware/spyware

in the stickys at the top follow the links and download malwarebytes and spybot and do a full scan with both of them. dont click any of the links!!!

phew... thanks. Have closed them down and running my virus checker. That is one fairly authentic looking site! Close shave. Thanks again.

Virus checker wont nessesarly (spelling) be enough, you need the spybot and malware programs too.

What I do is have an antivirus prog and once a month run Housecall on https://www.antivirus.com Sometimes finds things - like tracking viruses - that shouldn't be there. No virus can go past both.
