Hmmm. Nothing screams "unhappy" like people desperately trying to convince total strangers on the internet that they have some sort of ideal life, whilst casting aspersions on the personal lives and happiness of others who they don't even know.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -
Gotta hand it to DD there, that is one quality come back

Why do you post on here if every time someone has an alternate viewpoint from you, you start ranting and throwing around the insults?
As far as my postings are concerned, I never thought I'd have to provide a timetable to my activities, but seeing as you think you are the Housing Board 'hall monitor', here goes... The reason I was up at that time was to make breakfast for my daughter who is an early riser. After sharing a lovely breakfast of Sugar Puffs (don't tell my missus, I'm banned from eating them) she went to play with her Dolls house and I came onto here.
I'm now back on because I'm waiting for everyone to get ready - we're off to Delamere Forest (http://www.cycle1st.co.uk/delamere.htm) for a family bike ride and a spot of late lunch.
I may pop on when I get back, but we've got Grandma and Grandpa coming over for Dinner, so I might not be able to get on until after the kids have gone to bed, grannie & gandad have gone home and while my lovely wife catches up on her Facebook.
That's our day planned, what are you doing? Another day in your bedroom at Mum & Dad's posting rubbish onto the internet? Ah, well. Have a good one?
As !!!!!! sees some sort of issue with people editing their posts to correct spelling and typos (yes, some of us do this), I thought I'd edit them via a new post. Ridiculous I know, but hopefully it'll calm !!!!!! down as he so does like posts to remain unedited for the Public Records and Archives..
I've corrected my mistakes in the quoted portion - caused mainly by dashing off a post in the 5 mins I have available to me....
There finished. Nothing sinister there !!!!!!? - methinks you need to get a life matey. These posts don't 'stay on record' for the National Archive no matter how valuable for the nation you think your views are. :rotfl:Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

You're getting desperate DD. Don't you have some sort of idyllic family life to get on with while I supposedly rot in my personal hell?

I think I'm the one who needs to get a life really... Sat here in my pajamis wrapped in my quilt, eating a crisp sandwich whilst reading a forum where 2 strangers are bickering over pretty much nothing...
The sun is shining outside, !!!!!! am I doing lol.0 -

He has as much bias as many of the HPC (and HPI) people here and he's merely using the current state of the financial markets to push his views. He is regularly lampooned in the satirical magazine Private Eye as Peter O'Bore.
The 'barbaric' states like China have no internal market for their goods, so if the citizens of the West tighten their belts and stop buying luxury items and instead focus on debt repayment and the purchase of necessary goods, they will suffer. There will be mass unemployment for many of the people who have moved from rural communities into cities to work in factories, making all the material crap that the West thought it needed over the last decade.
China will have its hands full implementing social policies to support these people. Policies that the West have already had in place for half a century.
Peter Oborne writes articles entitled 'Why the US is now our great enemy', 'It shouldn't happen to a Muslim' and 'Muslims under seige'. Clearly he's no lover of the US and is now revelling in their troubles. I would no sooner give anything he writes any more credance than I would the rhetoric from Iran where they also think the US is their great enemy - i.e. The great Satan.
The world economies are too interlinked. The US consumes 25% of the World's resources. If they go under then so do the nations who supply them.
Good post, I've highlighted the bit I think is most important, I've been saying this for years, we just have too much junk available at cheap (throwaway) prices, it really makes me fume when I think of it cluttering up our landfill.
Its quite funny now, DD and !!!!!!. DD just likes a good argument, thats the only reason he comes on this board. The rest is just a personality clash. Don't waste my time actually reading it though.

lol - are you not the man that always accuses people of trying to take threads off topic.
i think you've just done it you forgetful man. i won't be rude about it because i actually pity you and feel sorry for your life...
why are you so worried if other people are posting or deleting posts - all they have done is disagreed with your absurd argument once again.
it's ok that's what people do, it's human nature. unfortunately for you, your best friend is your pc. it's your way of making friends, we know that. it's fine.
we'll pull you through this don't worry...
btw - i was at work this morning, finish at 3 though...
You were the one who started dishing out gratuitous insults on the thread Chucky - as usual.

I merely observed that the post you were trying to get me to comment on was posted at 7.50am on a Sunday morning by a guy who just recently has been trying to goad me about the amount of time I apparently spend posting here, with this nasty little piece of provocation (a DD trademark) a couple of days back:DD's post is below in case the chimp has Ignore on still...
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=14276737&postcount=31Poor thing. I really think that if he got a girlfriend, it'd change his life. Instead of logging on here while he has his cornflakes, logging on here during work time, then rushing home and logging on for the whole evening, he'd instead have a nice breakfast with his lady, chat on here (and maybe crack a joke or two because he's got his oats finally!) during work hours with the rest of us and then go home and have a lovely dinner with his lady.
!!!!!! is so tense because he's just not getting any.
How ironic that you would bring to my attention a post he made more or less when he was tucking into his cornflakes, or as he informs the world, sugarpuffs at 7.50am on a Sunday.
Still, glad to see that DD got back to me within minutes with a full itinerary of his fabulous family Sunday to prove how incredibly idyllic his life is  presumably to emphasise how unhappy mine (which he knows next to nothing about but hasn't stopped him apparently obsessively building up a whole fantasy version of it) must be
And no need to justify why/when you are posting (I'm at work etc. etc.) this is a free group and anyone is free to post at any time they like. I just have a good eye for the ironic and the timing of the DD post this morning vs his post a few days back is certainly that.....--

I don't see what the issues are about the 'qualifications' or whatever of the author. It's an opinion piece which although OTT certainly hits the nail on the head a couple of times.
It's also spectacularly apocalyptic and worth the read just for the entertainment value. Its quite funny now, DD and !!!!!!. DD just likes a good argument, thats the only reason he comes on this board. The rest is just a personality clash. Don't waste my time actually reading it though.
You're quite right to ignore all that arguing stuff. Normally I would try not to get drawn in but I can't resist pointing out the ironic (and this is completely ironic, Alanis could write a song about it) and hey, it is a Sunday.--

yes agreed there should be 'what if' scenarios, but there are too many 'what if' scenarios unfortunately put on here
and you're right about the future, but this time it is even more unpredictable.
Well, I don't know that you can have 'too many.'
I shall certainly collect a few together, as it's not every week that we have events like this. Then, in a year or so, it will be quite interesting to see who was closest to the immediate effects, and who was well off-course.
Longer term changes will be subject to other pushes and pulls, which will muddy the water to some extent.0 -

I bought a Diablo printer which came in an absolutely enormous box. Our two boys were about 2 or 3 then, and this was the best present they ever had. That box was a boat, a hiding place and a house. On one occasion, it even became a theatre, with the boys' teddies and other cuddly toys (as well as parents) lined up for the audience. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
