A+L account setup

Hi all

went to set up my A+L account the other day and received the paperwork this morning

Im not felling to happy right now

for one thing was told by customer adviser that set up my account that "a credit card went with this account" that I feel was a lie to get her quota on credit card sale up

when I said I did not want another card I use egg money and clear the balance each month (nice 2%cash-back at the mo ) see said just cancel it when it arrives

but why should I have it at all?? its just another card on my credit file

and from when I was in dept still had my £1000 over draft was told they would match it so thought what the hell an extra 1000 in my stooze pot for a year will not go a miss

but its only $550 ?

so all in all not to happy

ringing their customer services this evening

Am just doing the same but I signed up online. On the page where a credit card was offered, I clicked NO and nothing has come through so I reckon you're right about that.

I think you can have your overdraft matched ONLY if you use their switching service. I got the same as you, £500 offered but sent it back anyway.

Yesterday I got the welcome pack that had a switching form. You have to send a statement to prove the amount of the overdraft with the switching form. They then revise your overdraft offer. However, they only say they will consider matching and let you know, they don't promise to match. We'll see!

As their card comes with 0% on BTs for 9 months (2% max. £50 BT fee), you can make some money if they give you limit more than £1500. Make BT from Egg Money to A&L, then move positive balance from Egg to some saving account. If you pay 20% tax on savings interest you can make about £35 with £2000 credit limit using 5% saving account (£60 with £3000, £135 with £5000, ...)
