i know alot of you will know about this but i was updating my lappy and just thought i'd tell you guys

http://www.ccleaner.com/

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

The Update Checker will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases. These are then neatly displayed in your browser for you to download. The Update Checker works on any Windows PC running Vista, XP, 2003, 2000, ME or 98.
It requires that the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is installed, which you may download directly from here, or the installer will prompt and download it automatically.

I use Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, which I actually pay for, and I have never had any problems with my computer in the last 2 years because of viruses and spyware etc.

I do use CCleaner every now and again to see how things are but never get any problems on that.

I case you don't know, only one real time anti-virus package should be used.

    thanks

Because the OP is advising running two anti-virus programs at the same time AVG & AVIRA, so their advice should be ignored.

  • wow that was quick. thank you. I didn't know whether it was in relation to ccleaner, which I have just used; wondered if I had done something dumb. I previously payed for 'disk cleanup' to clean up my files and was annoyed at having to pay someone if I could do it for free.

No ccleaner is a useful program used and recommended by many. There is a tutorial here if it's new to you,
