Christmas Markets

Hi,

Can't decide to go away to the sun or to get in the festive spirit.

Where would you do for the best Christmas markets and atmosphere.

Cologne is good, Nuremberg supposed to be the best.

Flights to the sun may be cheaper.

Sunny old Lincoln. Ok, so I'm biased because it's my "home town". Part of the Christmas market is made up of stalls from Lincoln's twin city of Neustadt in Germany......... so you get the best of both Lincoln and Germany. Oh, and the Cathedral looks lovely at that time of year.

It's the best Cathedral anywhere. But the market does get more than a little crowded so be prepared and try to get there early

If you do go to the Lincoln Christmas market, on the website that Ted has posted it says that park and ride from the Showground (just north of Lincoln) costs £8 per car, irrespective of the number of passengers. That is a blimmin' rip off for Lincoln, so I suggest that you park in the Broadgate Car Park, which is a multi-storey at the bottom of the hill. (just off Broadgate! :D)

Bath is quite nice this time of year - a good xmas market, plenty of shops and resturaunts and the cathedral is great. You are also close enough to Bristol should the need take - although xmas in Bath is far prettier!

  • HI,

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm not sure where I'll go now as DIY is lurking in the background.

Lincoln and Bath sound a good idea if I don't get away, I could go for a weekend break maybe.

Frankfurt Xmas market is fab. Went last year booked with lastminute.com went for 3 nights for less than 300 for the two of us. Had a great hotel the market was wonderful, we took an empty suitcase to bring lots of stuff back! Would have gone back again this year but was a bit skint.
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.
