Hi
I was wondering if anyone could help?
I have a windows XP laptop and all of a sudden it will not recognise the internal dvd drive (drive d)
The disc tray will not open by the button on it and there are no lights flashing on it at all
When I go into my computer it usually appears under devices with removable storage, but it is no longer here.
Would anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
Lee

Is the drive removalable - if so turn the computer off and remove it and then replace it again ensuring it is correctly seated. Now turn it on and see if it appears.0

sounds like a connection problem at first glance - connectors can corrode over time - even if they are not moved and kept plugged in.. I have had this happen on my desktop PC with the DVD drive . was the ribbon connector to the motherboard - just needed unplugging and putting back in againDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0
