Virgin Balloon Voucher - expired

My wife bought me a virgin balloon flight voucher at a cost of £125 for Christmas 2005. I booked my flight a couple of times in 2006 only to have it cancelled on each occasion by Virgin due to bad weather. Unfortunately, I forgot all about it in 2007 and didn't call them until recently. They said my voucher had now expired and was worthless. They said all this is covered in the T&Cs that they sent with the ticket. The T&Cs do say that you must take your flight within 12 months or within 12 months of any agreed extended commencement date which is at their discretion, otherwise you lose your right to take the flight. I tried asking for my money back but they said this was not possible,
I believe that this type of contract is unfair to the consumer. Virgin should not be allowed to pocket the cash when they have not completed delivery of the goods. Can any consumer champions out there offer me any hope?

No. You forgot about it. Start remembering stuff...

  • there would have been occasions that the weather would have been okay so they would argue that you would have been able to have taken your flight at some point.

ask as a gesture of good will if they would consider allowing you to book a flight but I expect you may not get anywhere as 2006 would have been the time to negotiate
