It's a decent spec and should be fine, but it'll all depend on the kind of games you plan to play.

If you have any names in mind, you should check the recommended requirements of those games and compare it with the spec of the PC. My rule of thumb for gaming is look at the recommended requirememts and double it. If the PC still meets the criteria, then you should be fine.

I'd pay the extra £20 and get the whole 4GB of RAM.

  • Thanks JMC160,
Gaming is for my son and tend to be strategy games so nothing too intensive although that could change so just need to look ahead.
I will take the 4Gb advice on board.

Do you know whather the Vostro makes may be more suitable?
  • i have the xps 420.. but with nvidia 8800gt.. 950gb hd.. great gaming system.. great looking btx case too

it plays every game on hi-spec settings no prob..

  • didimortal,

Thanks for the info, but how much would that cost?

Do you have a D***** number from DMXDimension for the spec?

My system was priced at £600 and cannot really afford any more unless I could really justify it.
  • seems like they only have the ATI gfx cards now in the 420s.. which is on par with the nivida card in my system.. i think the xps range are well above the average spec pc

the system that is similar to mine is.. D09X404 with just the gfx card difference.. £800 last january in the sales, the rrp was alot more at the time, site says £749 now ;)

pc world stock the xps range, what i did is ask for a price without the screen, and haggled down until i got a good price because of the sales at the time..

http://www.armedassault.com/ is prob my most resource hungry game, plays great on hi-settings..
