hi guys
here again asking for help!
edf misery i'm afraid to say
switched supplier in june leaving edf behind, electricity swap over no problem, gas final bill was a total mess.
they sent me an £18k final bill. obviously found this amusing, contacted them and they said they would re-calculate the bill and not debit the bill from my account, but they did!!! so followed numerous calls, bank charges and returned direct debits.
the actual cost is £16 bank charges, £10 in returned dd fee (from virgin media, who co-incidently have now demanded i pay a min of 1 month in advance for all my services since return of dd). i was assured they would credit these but 2 weeks on still waiting
but its more about hassle, time, being let down, bad rep with the bank, time etc
any advice you can give me on how i can cause edf a bit of pain let me know

You will get very little joy from EDF tbh, but really the person you should be shouting at is your bank. First of all the direct debit should not have been allowed to BE taken, what mechanisms are in place to stop 18k pound direct debits coming out of your bank? Clearly this is a case of an incorrect direct debit amount which the direct debit mandate protects you from via indemnity claims. In this case the bank has a burden of responsibility to protect your account, see that direct debits are correct and paid and certainly not to charge you when they have clearly allowed an erronious DD to be taken.
Shout at EDF AND your bank to be fair.0
