Sky + Magic Eye not working

Options
We are having problems getting our magic eye to work. We've even bought a new one because we thought the one we had was broken, but still not working. We've then gone down the route thinking the wire was faulty, and have installed a new one, but still not working. Having spoken to Sky and gone through all their fault findings, they've told us the RF outlet 2 isn't powering the magic eye. Hence they've told us that we need a new box.

Anyone know any ways of fixing this, or whether it's cheaper to just get a new box? If a new box is the way to go, can anyone recommend where to get a cheap box?

Thanks
Lisa

What did you do to ensure that the RF2 power was switched on?
Have you tried plugging the magic eye unit directly into the RF2 output, and does the red light come on when you do?
BTW Are you getting the video feed from the RF2 output or is this dead to?
Sky will come out for £65 to replace your box.

  • Hi There,

i am having a similar problem with my Magic Eye. It was working fine for about 2 months and then all of a sudden stopped working.

It seems that it is not recieving power. When I plug the Magic Eye directly into RF2 in the back of the sky box, the LED works. However, when I plug into the back of the 2nd TV, I get no power. I am receiving a good video and audio signal in the 2nd TV, but frustratingly, I cannot chnage the channel via the Magic Eye.

I have tried a new SKY box too, but get the same issues.

    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Sam

If its working at the back of the sky box but not at the remote TV then you have a cable fault, RF is passing but not the DC to power the eye.
If you are going via wallplates you may have decoupling capacitors which are blocking the DC or it may be that the screen has become disconnected, have a look at all the connections.
