Problems deleting emails in Outlook Express

Outlook Express went funny on me the other day, and now it won't let me delete any emails to my deleted items folder. The only way I've found to delete is by pressing shift & delete at the same time, but this totally deletes it from my computer. And this is a pain each time.

Anyone got any ideas on how to resolve this?
