Nintendo DS not charging - bought in Canada

Hi

My son lost his NDS while on holiday in Canada. The exchange rate was good out there so I bought him a new one. Back home in UK now but it wont charge up properly.

On the back of the box it says 'for sale and use only in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Latin America'. I didn't notice this at the time I bought it, but surely - aren't these games supposed to be portable? Ideal for kids to take on holiday etc?

I'm using a regular adapter plug but it's just not holding the charge. Does this sound right?

Many thanks
Terri

Does the power adapter say 110-240v or just 110v?

Are you using a UK power adapter? If so, the DS is probably faulty. Unfortunately, you won't be able to get warranty service in the UK - they will tell you to return it to where you got it from. You have NO rights in the UK relating to this purchase.

Can you borrow another UK charger from one of his mates to see if it works any better?

Mains voltage is 110v in USA/Canada/Mexico etc

I suspect you may have a 110v charger (from Canada) on the 240v UK mains supply and have cooked the batteries in your DS, as you will be pushing double the correct voltage to the battery. You say you are 'using a regular adapter plug' so I suspect this is the problem.
