Does anyone know what an OU certificate is the equivalent to? I wondered if it's the same as an HNC but I asked my tutor and she wasn't sure but thought a NVQ 3....but you cant really compare it to a VQ can you? and I would have said it would be more comparable with an NVQ 4 as a 3 is A'level standard???????
Please someone...save me from this confusion!

Which certificate is it? They vary as to level - some are undergrad, some post grad.
If you go to the course page on the OU website https://www.open.ac.uk it will tell you there what level it is.0 -
120 OU credits should be equivalent to the first year of a degree. Definitely Level 4 (forget about NVQ, it's not relevant here).0

it's 60 points level one and on completion I will have a certificate in Health and social care.0

Had a look on the OU website and it's not clear there. As it's 60 points I think it may well be Level 3.
If you go to your Student Home page and look at your Academic Transcript then I think the course level might be listed there?
Call your regional office on Monday - they are really helpful.0 -
I completed a certificate 60 points in social sciences (OU level 1) and my course record tells me that it is a level 4 equivilant.
May help a bit.0 -
If it's part of a degree then it's level 4. Level 3 is A level equivalent.0

The OU certificate is a certificate of Higher Education equal in study level to a 1st year of a degree. Its a level 4 qualification which is above a-level - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Qualifications_FrameworkI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
