Royal Mail Address vs Electoral Roll Address

Why on earth do you say that? You can get a statutory report for £2 here. If you contact them about mistakes, they will send you an updated one for free. No need to sign up for CreditExpert at all.
I was aware of the statutory £2 report, but didn't know they would send an updated for free if it's wrong?! In that case, I'm certainly not going to renew ever again...0 -
I have just had a very frustrating call with Experian.
Our Royal Mail address is
Flat XX
<Flat block Name>
xxx Road
Town
Full Postcode
However our electoral roll address is:
83 (in the house number field)
<Flat block Name> (but in the road field)
XX Road (but in the District field)
Town + first part of postcode
Full Postcode
... which admittedly is clearly wrong, but even if I could get the council to change it it would take weeks if not months to be updated with all the CRAs.
As my current credit accounts are sent to our correct postal address, none appear on my credit report, only settled ones from a year or more ago, and consequently I was turned down for a credit application 2 weeks ago. I spoke to the applications dept and they told me all they could see were settled accounts at this address, but that they could see I was on the electoral roll. I had provided them with previous address information too.
I applied to Experian for CreditExpert in the hope it might help speed up the resolution of the problem. I have a £2 paper experian report from November 2008 to compare against, which correctly lists accounts associated with 'Flat XX, <Flat Block Name>' but none with 'XX <flat block name'. However creditexpert only recognises Electoral Roll Addresses and rejects any other (they just tried entering on the phone), so they couldn't add the royal mail address as a 'previous address' - the only way they could make both sets of data appear on the same report. For a paper report, they could generate a combined report but only if the royal mail address was quoted as a 'previous address'. The fact that it is already a linked address is not adequate to make the account history be included.
Experian point blank refused to acknowledge is it is a problem with their systems - and consequently any credit provider searching my file can only see half my credit history - depending on which address the credit accounts are reported against (often there is no choice in this - as the companies use the Royal Mail database).
My only hope then is to get the council to change the address, but even then settled accounts for the 'wrong address' won't show up next to the correct ones unless I quote it as a previous address on all my future credit applications.
Can a notice of correction be applied to a report to advise of such errors, or does any NOC have to be lodged against a specific account - which would be hard if it is missing!
Experian didn't have any supervisors in the call centre today to escalate to, but surely they have a responsibility to sort this?Cider Country Solar PV generator: 3.7kWp Enfinity system on unshaded SE (-36deg azimuth) & 45deg roof0
