Wall mounted electric fires with nice glow

We have a small extra reception room which is very snug but could do with a focal point. So were thinking of an electric wall mounted fire that had a coal/log effect. The DIY shops, that sell them, don't have them switched on and asking the staff to turn them on seems like asking for the earth. Also the prices vary enormously and right up to silly prices.

Anyone any suggestions, that are realistically priced and have nice glowing effect in dimly lit rooms? Not wanting a fireplace, or gas, or real fires as our tasted are fairly minimalistic?

U need to be looking somewhere like this if the diy place cant be bothered to connect it up then they are not worth even looking at!

Thanks for that and I wish I was in Leeds.

I bought my first LCD TV a couple of weeks ago asking for the set to be conncted through standard definition as opposed to HD was a nightmare. "Sorry can't do" or "can you come back in the week and if we are not busy we will see if we can".

Even the small shop we bought from the assistant was told off, by the manager, for disrupting the set up.
