BG gas / elect

Options
Hi
Can I ask some advice my son is reg disabled and I am his carer ,

I have just had my gas/elect bills in from BG and I pay by dd £24.a month
Gas on my last statement was £65 in credit this bill is £52 and I am £86 in credit now they want to put my dd up to £45.

Elect on last statement was £5 in credit but pay £34 a month by dd this bill was £122.
so amount £11.debit but want to put the dd up to £49
on the elect it states dd discount and dual fuel , but on the gas it only states dd discount
Can I ask them to leave the dd's as they are as I can't afford to be paying £100 a month and would we be entitled to any other discounts .
thanks

Dual fuel discount is only paid to the electricity account.

You don't say what BG tariff you are on, but you could see if you qualify for Essentials tariff, or you may wish to consider Click 5. Loads of threads on this forum giving information.

On the face of it the increase in DD is not justified, so call them and ask why they have increased it - bear in mind that if you are on standard tariff that prices have just increased a great deal.
  • Hi
I don't know what tariff I am on , I have had a look on the statements can't see any mention there .
Have phoned bg and they have reduced the dd to gas £30 elect £39 and say I am on a better tariff now till dec so phone back dec and they will put me on Essentials tariff then.

    Thanks for that.Cardew

Don't believe a word of what they say until you can check it out yourself. Insist on being given the actual name of the tariff you are on and ask them to confirm in writing/email that this is indeed the best/cheapest tariff for you and your circumstances. Don't forget they've just increased your DDs for absolutely no discernible reason, why start trusting them now?
