British Gas Direct Debit Discount
I apologise if this has already been covered but on checking my recent gas bill I note that in addition to attempting to increase my direct debit from £37 to £56 (which isn't going to happen!) they have changed the direct debit discount from roughly 10% of 'the gas used charge' to £0.0027 per Tier 2 kWh (capped at £12).
So unless I've read this wrong, it means that on my light summer usage, my direct debit discount would be slashed from £5 to only 66 pence.
British Gas are truly appalling! This will further penalise light users who are already shafted by the 2 tier pricing regime. It's the straw that broke the camel's back for me .... I'm taking my business elsewhere.

To be fair your correct in your assessment. BG as a company do not offer a good deal to people with very low use. I would recommend Ebico, they are a not for profit organization with no tier 1 charge and no standing charge. If this will save you money personally i couldn't tel you, thats what uswitch is for0

Look on the bright side, OP. At least the profits they make from you will be ploughed back into developing the energy infrastructure of this country. Oh, wait a minute...Call me Carmine....
