I've kept a spreadsheet since I got my current car and it shows Shell diesel is about 3 MPG better than Morrisons. I've covered 40k in the last 14 months so it's a fair distance driven but of course not laboratory conditions, but enough to convince me to use Shell diesel as it's often the same price as the supermarkets in any case.

Shell's premium diesel doesn't give me any noticeable improvement over their standard fare, but I've only used it 4 or 5 times as I'm not prepared to pay the extra 6p or so a litre unless I can see an improvement. I don't trust the onboard computer but record the details after every visit to the pump,

    I've a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi, averaging 56mpg since I bought the car, so it's about a 6% improvement if I use Shell.

Maybe I should blog about it, that would be the World's dullest blog!
