I wonder if anyone can help with my query.

I have just started a new job and they have asked me to get a company credit card - mainly for me to use for covering travel and meal expenses. I have to complete an application form for this, and I wondered if this means the bank (HSBC in this case) will credit check me personally? The form is asking for all my personal details, i.e. DoB, home address, previous addresses etc..

Recently I have had some problems with getting credit (which I am in the process of sorting out) but I wonder if this will affect me getting the company card... since I'd hate to get refused and have to discuss my personal finances with my new boss...!

Any advice gratefully received!

If they have asked you to apply it is quite possible that they will credit score you.

If your company has an agreement to issue cards to their staff then you will sign the terms and conditions imposed on you by your employer and any debt on the card would be your employer's liability.

Without going into too much detail, I doubt you will have a problem, do remember however that in the event of your company folding, you remain liable for any debts on the card. Debts otherwise incurred are not necessarily the employers liability.

Just to be sure, then. It's definitely likely I will be credit searched/scored personally by the bank, even though it's a company credit card scheme?
